Settings > Calendar > Appointment Types > + New
Best Practices:
- The appointment name is visible to patients if you allow self-scheduling for this appointment type. Choose a descriptive and clear name so that patients know which appointment type to self-select.
- Let your implementation manager know if you’d like the group appointment (e.g., webinar) feature enabled.
- Enabling self-scheduling is a best practice. For those who have not previously used self-scheduling, we recommend piloting with one provider to start.
- Since “pending” appointments do not appear in Elation and given the risk of syncing delays or double-booking conflicts, it is typically not advised to enable “Enable RSVP” feature this unless your team is exclusively scheduling through Fold. If you do enable this feature, we recommend creating an automation to notify your staff when an appointment is in Pending status, so that it can be blocked on the EHR as quickly as possible.
- Appointment types can be color coded for quick viewing from the calendar.
- Appointments can be double booked by default, there is no special setting required to enable this within the Appointment Type.
- If you utilize the calendar feature within Fold, and also have an integrated EHR, Fold highly recommends scheduling exclusively through Fold Health. Scheduling telehealth visits through Fold will generate Zoom links to send to patients and automatically populate on your calendar.
For each appointment type, you will need to decide on the detailed settings listed within the Knowledge Hub.
