What are Tags in Fold ?

Tags are patient specific labels that can either be created in your billing software, your EMR or in Fold. At present the only billing software that Fold integrates with that uses tags is Hint and the only EMR that Fold integrates with that supports tags is Elation. Fold’s web app uses tags for profiles across all billing systems and EMRs.

Tags can be used for practice management or for clinical use. A clinical use of tags would be to tag any patients who need extra assistance (walker or wheelchair for example) and create an automation to notify nursing staff 30 minutes before an appointment, to get ready to provide extra assistance.

Tags are useful as another way to group patients and can be used as triggers in Automations.

Fold also offers a sticky note functionality. Sticky notes appear boldly in the patient profile for important comments to keep in mind about the patient (e.g., "Patient has a blood draw phobia"). Sticky notes sync back to the patient's profile in the Patient Notes field.

How to use Tags with Hint ?

In Hint, tags are automatically added based on Employer and Membership Type to your EMR (typically Elation) which are then synced to Fold. The tags from Hint are meant to help guide users with easily accessible information regarding a patient’s membership and employer without having to navigate to Hint.  Deleting a ‘Membership Status’ or ‘Employer’ tag in Fold or Elation does not change the patient’s actual Membership Status or Employer status in Hint.

In fact, if a membership or employer tag is deleted in Fold it will reappear in Fold within 24 hours if there is no change to the membership or employer made in Elation due to Fold’s continuous read-only syncing with Hint.

How to use Tags with Elation ?

In Elation, if a tag is added or deleted on a patient profile, the tag will automatically be added or deleted in Fold.  If tag is added or deleted in Fold from the patients profile the change is automatically synced to Elation.  If you wish to globally delete a tag, the process would be the delete the tag in all of the patient profiles in Elation manually and then in the Elation global settings and then to delete the tag in Settings → Members/Leads section in Fold.

How to use Tags without Elation or Hint ?

Tags can be deleted from a patient’s profile in Fold or can be deleted via global settings in Fold. Deleting a tag from  Settings –> Member/Leads will delete the tag from all patient profiles in Fold.

Deleting a tag from the Settings → Members/Leads section in Fold will remove the tag from the patients in Fold, but won’t automatically delete the tag on patients in Elation which is why we recommend starting the tag deletion process in Elation and not Fold.

Here is an example of how Tags are used ?

As mentioned, Tags are a quick way to give visual information regarding membership and employer information from Hint or Stripe. Tags can also be used for practice management or for clinical use.

An example of using tags for practice management would be tagging individuals regarding length of visits they need and incorporating those tags into what appointment lengths the patients can self schedule.

A clinical use of tags would be to tag any patients who need extra assistance (walker or wheelchair for example) and create an automation to notify nursing staff 30 minutes before an appointment, to get ready to provide extra assistance.

How do I see a list of all the Tags in our environment?

Navigate to Settings → Member/Leads and you should see a list of all your tags.

How do I edit the tag colour?

Navigate to Settings → Member/Leads and you should see a list of all your tags.  When you click on the “pencil “ button next to a tag you’ll be able to edit the Tag Name, Tag Description and Tag Color.
