Active Member vs Inactive Member
Active members can be divided into Hint Active Members (members paying a monthly subscription) and Fold Active Members (Hint Active members and individuals paying for one off visits). All Fold active members are able to access the Fold Care App (if invited) and can schedule appointments. Fold does not invoice for Fold Active members, only for Hint Active Members. A patient created in Fold or your EMR is by default a Fold Active Member.
Changing a patient from Fold Active to Fold Inactive does not change the Hint Active or Inactive Status. Hint Active and Hint Inactive can only be changed through Hint’s website. Any changes made in Hint will cascade to Fold - for example, if a patient is made Active in Hint, they will also be made Active in Fold, likewise if a patient is made Inactive in Hint, they will also be made Inactive in Fold.

Attributed Member vs Non-Attributed Member
Attributed Member and Non-Attributed Members is terminology that is not being used by Fold as of mid 2023. However attributed and non attributed members can be considered similar to Active Members and Inactive Members in functionality and for now can be used interchangeably.
Contact Type
A contact type refers to a category of non members in Fold. By default Fold ships with a single non member contact type called a Lead or a Prospect. Customers can create their own contact types such as “Pharmacies”, “Labs”, “VIP Prospects”, “Benefits Advisors”. Whether a contact type can be converted to a member is determined by the Contact Type settings in Settings → Member/Leads → Custom Contact Types.
Custom Contact Fields
A contact field refers to an additional parameter that can be added to Members, Leads or other custom contact leads in Fold. Custom Contact Fields can be either text, numbers, dates, boolean (yes/no), email, phone or NPI. Customer Contact Fields are set at Settings → Member/Leads → Custom Contact Fields.
Patient vs Member
Patients and members are used interchangeably.
Patient Portal vs Web Portal vs Fold Care App
The patient portal, web portal or Fold Care App all refer to the same application that patients use to communicate with the practice. The patient portal is a more general term that can refer to either the web portal or the Fold Care App. The web portal typically refers to a desktop or mobile web URL that the patient uses to login usually in the form of YOURDOMAIN.patientapp.foldhealth.io. If the patient has a smartphone we recommend downloading the Fold Care App and communicating via the app. The login information for the web portal and the Fold Care App is the same.
Phone Tree vs IVR
The terms Phone Tree and IVR (Interactive Voice Response) are used interchangeably.
Population Group, Audience Group and Patient Group
The terms Population Group, Audience Group and Patient Group are used interchangeably and are used to define a group of patients that have common parameters.
Provider Portal vs Fold Grow App
The Provider Portal refers to the web URL that staff members use to login to the Fold Grow App. The URL is typically YOURDOMAIN.foldhealth.io The Fold Grow App is the mobile application for smartphone users available for both iPhone and Android devices that staff can use to stay connected on the go.
Lead vs Prospect
The terms Lead and Prospect are used interchangeably. Both Leads and Prospects refer to individuals that have not been converted into patients or members but exist in the Fold Application. Leads/Prospects cannot be added to the App, cannot be added as caregivers to patients however Leads and Prospects can be used in Campaigns and Automations.
Staff vs Users
The term staff and user are used interchangeably and refer to clinic staff members that take care of patients.
